What is Orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving irregularly placed teeth, correcting mal-aligned jaw, improper bite and improving the facial appearance. A properly aligned tooth helps in biting, chewing, maintain good oral hygiene and speak more effectively.
While there is a common misconception that orthodontic treatment is mostly for adolescents and teenagers, adults can also receive orthodontic treatment: age is not a criteria for treatment.

What are Braces?
Braces are fixed orthodontic appliances comprising of metal bands that wrap around the molars in back and smaller metal brackets that are temporarily cemented to the front surfaces of the other teeth. A flexible wire joins all the brackets and allows the teeth to be moved into a proper position.

Retainers
This appliance is designed to hold the teeth in their newly corrected positions after braces treatment. There are removable and fixed retainers.
Worn nearly around the clock for at least 2-3 years after braces treatment.
Once they determine their teeth are no longer shifting, patient may be able to wear their retainer only at night.
